Hot Girls Start a Substack Because They're Worried Twitter Is Collapsing in on Itself
*taps mic* is this thing on?
Welcome to my Substack? I Guess?
Because I’m a loyal shill for film Twitter, I’ve been tossing around the idea of making a Substack for a while now, but the combination of being too busy with school, worried I don’t have anything interesting enough worth blogging/writing about, and good old-fashioned laziness has always kept me from pulling the trigger and actually getting around to making one.
As with my journalism and my creative writing, I agonized over a title for this newsletter- titles have always given me trouble in all aspects of my writing, and trying to come with some punchy, SEO-friendly newsletter title that also encapsulates both the content of the writing and my personal brand as a writer is a tall order. Is Hot Girl Cinema corny? Certainly! But I’m corny and learning to be proud of it - so forcing you all to see a name like that in your inbox a few times a week seemed like the obvious next step. If nothing else, maybe you’ll be subliminally influenced to start listening to more Megan Thee Stallion. Win-win.
Anyways, as for the content of this Substack, I had always intended on using a hypothetical newsletter as the sort of catch-all for stories I’ve been meaning/wanting to write but that for whatever reason can’t find a home. Don’t expect lengthy writing here (not sure if I have the time or energy to plunk out full-force essays for a newsletter), but you can certainly expect plenty of niche interest rants and think pieces about subjects editors aren’t interested in.
I’m also hoping to get myself into the habit of writing (even if not on assignment) regularly - hopefully this in turn strengthens my drive to expand my film/television horizons so I’ve got something interesting to stay for you alll. So if you’ve stuck around this long, thanks for checking me out, and I’ll see you hotties in your inbox.
